I watched our church service live this morning. The church is decorated for VBS and looks so good. The theme is… Jesus is the Light of the World…
Brother Kenny Coleman brought the message “What is Time Worth to You?”
He read Ephesians 5:5, 15-21. He had a wonderful message. Kenny was talking to me this morning. Sometimes I feel I’m in a dark place; I’m struggling. The song Come Jesus Come was played at the end; I’d heard the song but never really listened to the words.
I heard from Jennifer; she said they had a great first night of VBS. There were 91 total in attendance, and the girls won the money.
Daddy passed away four years ago today. Hard to believe it’s been that long.
My Aunt Bea called me this morning; yes, I have an Aunt Bea. She lives in Key West, and I hadn’t heard from her for years. We talked for over an hour; it was so good to hear from her!
I messaged Jennifer; tonight was bring a friend with you to VBS. They had 95 total in attendance, and the boys won the money.
I saw two days’ worth of pictures and videos, and it looks like everyone is having a good time.
Jennifer messaged me tonight; the attendance was 80, and the girls won the money.
Our Pastor, Eddie Wilson, came to visit today. It was so good to see him and have him pray with us.
Our church closed out VBS with a pool party at the YMCA. I’m going to call this week at VBS a huge success.
I took our bags of garbage to put beside the road Thursday morning only to find our chest freezer/trash bin missing. We had a bear visit last night, and I guess he got mad and pushed it over into the hollow. It’s at least 100 feet down, and there’s trash everywhere.
Ray and I went to town this morning. It’s difficult for him to get up and down our steps, but he did it. I stopped at Double Kwik first and got my turkey and dressing dinner- delicious. He had to get his second dose of the shingles vaccine, and I got a few groceries. We stopped on the way home, and Ray got his cheeseburger and fries; no cooking today.
Reminder: the Buchanan County Humane Society will have a Back-to-School yard sale at our office behind (the old) Grundy High School on Thursday, August 6, from 8 a.m. until noon. All clothing is $1 an item.
Reminder: the mobile food truck, Feeding Southwest Virginia, an equal opportunity provider, will be at the Council Park on Thursday, August 13. The truck arrives about 9 a.m., and the giveaway starts about 10 a.m. This is a drive-thru event; stay in your car, and we will come to you.
Reminder: Feeding my Sheep will be doing their giveaway Saturday, August 15.
The giveaway starts about 9 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m. Because of construction at the old Russell Prater School location, cars will be lining up near the old Sykes (current EOC) building on Southern Gap. Someone will be there to assist you.
