Southern Gap High School has rescheduled its inaugural “Meet the Eagles” community event, giving students, families and supporters a new opportunity to kick off the school’s first year together.
The event will now be held Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 5-8 p.m. at Southern Gap High School.
Although the date has changed, school officials said the event will continue to offer an evening of community fellowship, school spirit and family-friendly activities as the Eagles prepare for their inaugural athletic season.
Residents will have the opportunity to meet Southern Gap’s student-athletes, coaches and athletic programs while enjoying a vendor fair, music, inflatable attractions and other activities. The event is open to the public.
The celebration comes just days before Southern Gap opens its doors for its first school year following the consolidation of Buchanan County’s four high schools. School officials hope the event will bring together students, parents, alums and community members to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in Buchanan County athletics.
The Eagles will begin their inaugural football season Aug. 21 when they host Holston in the program’s first regular-season game after opening preseason play with an Aug. 15 home scrimmage against Patrick Henry.
School officials encourage the community to update their calendars and attend the rescheduled event to meet the athletes who will represent Southern Gap during its historic first year.
Additional information about the event will be released as it becomes available.
