A man wanted on multiple charges, including attempted murder and arson, was captured Sunday night by Tazewell County sheriff’s deputies.
“An operation conducted last night led to the capture of William Harold Bowden,” Sheriff Brian Hieatt said Monday. “He has been wanted since March 27 on charges of attempted murder, arson, destruction of property, attempted arson on a dwelling, attempt to enter a dwelling to commit a crime, and assault.”
The sheriff said Bowden is 38 years old and from the Bandy area.
“On the night of March 27th, the 911 Center received calls of a man threatening his ex-girlfriend in the Dry Fork area of North Tazewell. When deputies arrived, they found a vehicle fully engulfed in the driveway. At that time, Mr. Bowden had fled the scene and has been wanted since.”
The Bandy Fire Department and the Baptist Valley Fire Department responded to the scene in March and controlled the fire before it could spread to any residences.
Bowden is currently being held in the Southwest Regional Jail Authority’s Tazewell facility.
