The Watchman
My understanding is that this phrase originated in boxing, and in the early 1900s, 99% of men, rich or poor, actually wore hats.
If a new guy wanted to challenge the local champ, he would literally throw his own hat into the ring as a sign of his challenge.
Today we are facing some of the biggest challenges I have known in my lifetime, maybe the greatest in our constitutional republic. What’s at stake, you might ask, is our future, for our children and our grandchildren. The freedom we have had in our lifetime is at stake.
This week, I have been thinking about what Ronald Reagan said. He said that freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. My thoughts on this are that this is going to happen on our watch.
Are we going to let freedom slip out of our hands, or are we going to throw our hats in the ring and fight for what God has given us, or are we going to let the enemy steal our God-given rights that so many died for?
If they have their way, our constitution, as we know it, will change. They want to make radical changes that will alter the course our nation has been on since its inception.
Our nation was founded on God and his word, God’s principles and God’s morals. An enemy stands behind this, and his name is Lucifer.
Isaiah 14:12 says, “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning; how art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations?”
John 10:10 calls him the thief, saying he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But I like the last part of this verse. Jesus said, “I am come that you might have life, and have life more abundantly.”
So, you see what the enemy is trying to do to our nation. This is not God’s will.
So, we have identified the enemy. You say our enemy is not flesh but spiritual. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:12 that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
So, now we know what we are fighting against, the rulers of darkness. Now, how do we fight?
Let’s look at 2 Corinthians, chapter 10:3-5. Verse three says, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh.”
Verse four says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.”
Verse five says, “Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
That’s what we are facing now: the things that are against the knowledge of God. For example, they say God is non-binary, that God is neither male nor female.
But look what Jesus said in Matthew 6:9: ” In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be thy name. God is male, our Father, so now we know how to fight God.
God is looking for those who are willing to throw their hat in the ring and fight the good fight, the fight of faith. They hold on to eternal life, whereinto thou art also called (1 Timothy 6:12).
We are called to fight. The apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought a good fight.”
We are in a battle, but we are not alone. I like what God said to Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:15: “Thus saith the Lord unto you, be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
God is looking for those who will stand for him and fight. Jude 1:3 says it was needful for me to write to you and exhort you to earnestly contend for the faith that was delivered to the Saints.
Faith is under attack. Communism, socialism, and Marxism don’t believe in the God of the Bible; they believe in the power of government.
On July 13, 2024, Donald Trump, then former president of the United States, in Butler, Pennsylvania, survived an assassination attempt while speaking at an open-air campaign rally at Butler Farm.
He was wounded in his upper right ear and taken to the ground by the Secret Service. He got up, blood running down his face, fist in the air, saying Fight, fight, fight.
Recently, at the United Nations General Assembly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a speech. He said We’re going to win. We have no other choice.
That’s the way I feel about America. We have no other choice but to fight for the faith passed down from other generations to us, to fight for our children and our grandchildren.
We must stand united. This is a spiritual battle. We win it through prayer and fasting. Standing on the word of God, proclaiming God’s word, united we stand, divided we fall.
Are you willing to throw your hat in the ring? Get connected with your church of choice in your community, get engaged, be a participant, not a spectator, and God will be with you. God’s looking for you.
2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sins, and I will heal their land.
Remember what the enemy is saying. He means it. Destroy first the big Satan, America, and then the little Satan, Israel.

Stay tuned, the watchmen
