I went to church this morning. I needed to get back to make that first step by myself. Being alone is hard.
Brother Gene Miller brought the message, and I’m so glad I went. He read Matthew 7:15-23 and Luke 6:46. Does God Speak to You? I’ve always listened for that little voice that is God talking to me and guiding me. Since Ray passed away, I haven’t heard, or I guess, been willing to hear him. Please pray for me.
I owe a debt of gratitude to a group of strangers who stepped in and tried to save Ray. When it happened, a man started yelling, “Call 911,” and seconds later, we were surrounded. I called Brother Eddie. He was on the phone praying with me; some ladies were there literally holding me up, and several others were working on Ray.
I’m a believer that when God calls you home, there’s nothing on this earth that will change that. I wasn’t ready. I had a lot left to say to him, but God has a plan, and it’s perfect. Ray was ready. He was suffering and couldn’t breathe. It was his time to go home.
I called Eddie, and he met me at the hospital. I don’t know what I would have done without him. He held my hand and stayed with me until I was ready to leave the hospital and go home.
The law enforcement community showed up in force and showed Ray the admiration and respect I feel he deserved.
Everyone had a “Ray story,” friends and strangers alike. I didn’t realize how many lives he’d touched and people he’d helped.
I can’t say enough about our church family. They prayed for him as he got worse, and a few of the men came up and built him a bridge from the garage to our porch. He got to use it one time, and that was on his birthday.
I’m figuring out it’s not necessarily the big stuff you miss when you lose your husband. I’ve got a PSA water leak. What do I do? Our dogs tore down the door going under the house. Who can I get to fix it? It’s also about the little things, as simple as, “What do you want to eat?” “My back itches, and I can’t reach it. Can you get it for me?”
I love you, Honey.
“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
Matthew 5:4 KJV
