David Baldacci is coming to the Buchanan County Public Library and you are invited.

The award-winning #1 global best selling author is the featured guest for the library’s Lee Smith Speakers Series Thursday, September 17th at 5:30 P.M. Baldacci will be discussing his book, “A Calamity of Souls”, which was selected as the library’s 2026 Community Read.

Teresa Matney, the organizer of the event, is excited for Baldacci’s visit and the library is going all out.

“It is an honor for our library to host an author of David’s stature,” said Matney. “Thanks to the Friends of the Library, we have distributed more than 200 copies of the community read selection so that readers can be more engaged in the discussion. I’m so grateful for him to visit our library and spend time with his readers.”

The library will be running free bus service from the lower level of the Walmart parking garage to the library beginning at 4:30 P.M. Those riding the bus will be entered into a drawing for a Baldacci book bundle.

“I believe that one event builds on another, so if you love your library and want to see it grow, then plan on attending,” said Matney. “The best way you can support your library is by showing up when we need you and we need you now.”

Following Baldacci’s remarks, he will be signing copies of his books. The library will have a limited number of books for sale on the night of the event and those attending are also welcomed to bring copies of David’s books to be signed.

For more information about the event, please call the library at 276-935-5721.
