The Big Yellow Bus
“Time for the bus – you’re going to be late-
and you know that driver ain’t gonna wait.
Pop-Tarts in the toaster, so make your bed –
Come on now! Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!” Momma said.
I get a move on without a big fuss
Cause I really like riding’ the big yellow bus.
So, I fluff up my pillow and throw on my clothes,
Wolf down a Pop-Tart… and get milk up my nose.
Running out the door I trip on my dog,
And then the bus is coming’… through the fog.
Its lights flashing yellow … and now they are red;
The bus screeches to a stop … and I run ahead.
Boardin’ the bus, I speak to the driver.
“How’s it going?” he says, with a big high-five.
The driver is jolly with all of us –
And I sure like riding’ the big yellow bus!
School is cool – my friends are neat;
And I’ve got some teachers that can’t be beat –
But there’s one thing even better than play …
Ridin’ the big yellow bus down the state highway.
