Ray and I were still awake at 5:00 Sunday morning, so we didn’t make it to church. I watched Brother Rodney bring the message: God is everywhere at all times. He read 1 Kings 8:27, Isaiah 66:1, Ezekiel 37:27, John 1:1,14, Psalm 110:1, Psalm 139:8, Matthew 22:41-46, John 10:30, John 6:46, John 14:6-9, John 16:7, Romans 8:14, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. He had a great message.
We had a couple of friends come by after church to visit us. It was so good to have company. Ray and I have run out of things to talk about with each other.
We got up late Monday morning, and I fixed breakfast. Our electricity went out about 1:45 and came back on about 4:00. My AEP update said the estimate was 7:00, and I learned several things today. Ray’s on oxygen to live; a lot of people are. When the power goes off, his oxygen concentrator goes off. I got a portable tank and switched it out. That tank is only half full, but that gives me enough time to get a full one and get it ready. When the power came back on, he had one full bottle left.
When the power goes off, our Internet goes down. I get outage reports from AEP, but I can’t see them because I have no Internet. I can’t Google their outage number because I have no Internet. They quit printing phone books; we don’t need them anymore. Look up the outage number and have it ready beforehand.
Cell phones can’t be used when the power is out and Wi-Fi is down. We still have a landline push-button phone from the Sheriff’s office days, but I don’t have the outage number to report anything.
Thank God the power came back on when it did. I’ve already written down the outage number, and I’m going to order extra smaller oxygen bottles to have on hand in the house.
A ramp from the garage to the house is a priority now. I have large oxygen bottles in the garage we use for traveling, but they weigh about 50 pounds, and I can’t lift/carry them up and down steps into the house. The Farmers Almanac has predicted lots of snow, so I’ve got to get ready and prepared.
I got up early Tuesday and went to the hospital for my yearly mammogram. I’m praying everything is good.
Prayers and condolences for the family and friends of Gary Ratliff. He passed away today after battling sickness for a long time. Pray for his wife, Linda, and family.

We got up ridiculously early Wednesday morning to make a quick trip (3-hour drive) to our cabin so an insurance inspector could take a 10-minute tour of the inside. It was a very long day.
The mobile food truck, Feeding Southwest Virginia, an equal opportunity provider, was at the Council Park today. They served 152 households.
Feeding my Sheep held their food giveaway Friday morning (handicap only; must have a handicap placard or tag). Their giveaway hours have changed for Friday only. The new Friday hours are 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. Saturday giveaway times are the same. They served 383 households over the 2 days.
Reminder: the mobile food truck, Feeding Southwest Virginia, an equal opportunity provider, will be at the Grundy Community Center on Wednesday, August 26. The truck arrives about 9:00 a.m., and the giveaway starts about 10:00 a.m.. This is a drive-through event; stay in your car, and we will come to you.
