Golfers still have time to sign up for one of Buchanan County’s longest-running charitable sporting events.
The Buchanan County YMCA will host its 35th annual golf tournament Friday, Aug. 14, at Willowbrook Golf Course at The Breaks, with proceeds benefiting the YMCA’s youth programs, wellness initiatives and community outreach efforts.
Registration will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The annual tournament has become a tradition for area golfers, bringing together participants from across Southwest Virginia for a day of friendly competition while supporting the YMCA’s mission of strengthening the community through programs that benefit children, families and adults.
This year’s tournament will be played in a two-person Captain’s Choice format, with teams divided into four flights based on their average handicap, allowing golfers of all skill levels to compete.
Participants will also have the chance to compete for hole-in-one prizes throughout the day. Following the tournament, trophies and special awards will be presented, and golfers will enjoy a buffet meal.
Tournament organizers encourage anyone interested in playing to register before Friday.
