As excitement continues to build for the opening of Southern Gap High School, students, families and community members will have an opportunity to meet the Eagles’ first-ever fall athletic teams during a special community event next month.
The Southern Gap High School Pep Club, “The Nest,” will host its inaugural Meet the Eagles celebration on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Southern Gap High School, one day before the start of the 2026-27 school year.
The event will introduce the school’s high school and middle school fall student-athletes as Southern Gap prepares for its historic first athletic season.
Organizers have planned a family-friendly atmosphere featuring inflatables for children, live music, food vendors and additional activities throughout the evening.
Admission is free for Southern Gap students. Admission for all other attendees is $5.
The event serves as one of the first major public celebrations of Southern Gap athletics as the new school prepares to begin competition following the consolidation of Buchanan County’s four high schools into one campus.
School officials encourage students, families and community members to attend, meet the athletes and coaches, and show their support as the Eagles begin a new era of Buchanan County athletics.
