The Knox Creek Fire Department is celebrating one of its own after firefighter Alex Costa successfully earned his National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-Basic) certification.
The nationally recognized certification marks an important milestone in Costa’s emergency services career and allows him to provide pre-hospital emergency medical care as a certified EMT.
Department officials said the achievement reflects Costa’s dedication, hard work and commitment to serving the community.
“Alex’s accomplishment reflects his hard work, dedication and commitment to serving our community with the highest level of care,” the department said in a statement. “We are proud to have him as part of our team and look forward to the positive impact he’ll continue to make for the citizens we serve.”
EMTs are trained to respond to medical emergencies, provide lifesaving care and transport patients while working alongside other first responders.
