250 years ago, fifty-six men signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. They put everything on the line, their wealth, their lives, and their futures, knowing that if it failed, they would be hung for treason.
Many at the time thought they were fools for believing they could defeat the most powerful British Empire. It was said that the sun never set on the British Empire, a phrase used to describe the vastness of the empire, highlighting the fact that at any given time, there was always daylight in some part of the empire due to its global expansion.
The Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians, said we are fools for Christ’s sake. That’s just what these brave, courageous men did on July 4, 1776. They became fools in the eyes of the world at that time for Christ’s sake. They were mostly Christians, and they put it all on the line for a life of peace, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What made them so great was their belief in the cause of liberty from the British Empire, which was pressuring them heavily with taxation without representation. Freedom of religion was first in their minds because the First Amendment protected freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and a free press. It also protects the right to peaceful assembly and to petition the government.
The Second Amendment protects the right to keep and bear arms, in service of maintaining our democracy. At this time in history, a group of men led one of the greatest revolutions of all time and birthed one of the greatest nations in the world against all odds. This ragtag patriot troops, led by General George Washington, were poorly trained, barely paid, badly equipped, and greatly outnumbered by the British army. But with the help of the almighty God, a nation was born that would become a beacon of freedom to the world and send missionaries to promote Christianity in foreign countries.
Today, after 250 years, the American Christian republic still stands by the grace of God, yet its foundations have seriously eroded. Like the men of old who became fools for Christ’s sake, we, the church, need to step up and meet the needs of society’s poor. The scripture tells us in Acts 17:28, “For in him we live and move and have our being; in him we exist.” Truly, God is the source of every man’s provisions, to whom each man and woman must look. This teaching has been neglected because it’s no longer being taught in the schools.
As we see America backsliding from Christian principles, God is looking for those who will stand up for the cause. As we see Marx’s organization promoting socialism and communism among college men and women, they are also infiltrating the public schools of our nation. Communism does not believe in God. They believe that the government supplies all our needs, owns everything, and decides what our needs are accordingly.
Scripture says in Psalms 14:1 that the fool says in his heart there is no God. That’s the reason communism has always failed. In him we live; without him, there is no life, only death. As God raised up an army, at that time God wants to raise up those who will preserve our constitution and our Republic, who will trust God and pray. God said in 1 Corinthians 1:27-28 that God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. Verse 28 says that God hath chosen the base things of the world and the things which are despised, and things which are not to bring to nothing those things that are.
