One of the most exciting additions to The CAM this year has been our brand-new Summer Concert Series! What began on the Third Thursday of May has quickly become a favorite community tradition, and we are so thrilled to continue the series through the Third Thursday of September.
Each month features a different live band and a different food truck, creating the perfect opportunity to gather with family and friends for an unforgettable summer evening. Our beautiful outdoor courtyard provides the perfect setting with comfortable tables and chairs, glowing string lights, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to sit back, relax, and enjoy the music.
Our next concert will be Thursday, July 16, featuring the talented Midnight Gypsys.
The band is led by Kendra Nickles, a Buchanan County native from the Whitewood community, who serves as the band’s lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter. Kendra now resides in Kingsport, Tennessee. Joining her are James Stiltner, lead guitarist from Hurley, Virginia; Tanya Kestner, bassist and vocalist from Bristol, Tennessee; and Bana Willis, drummer from Haysi, Virginia.
Midnight Gypsys has released six original songs that are available on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, and most major music streaming platforms. During their live performances, audiences can enjoy a mix of original music along with favorites spanning new country, classic country, and classic rock hits from the 1970s and 1980s.
Come hungry because Lester’s Mountain Meats will also be joining us for the day. This family-owned food trailer from Richlands, Virginia, is known for producing some of the region’s finest cured hams, sausage, bacon, and traditional smoked meats. They will also be serving delicious sides including smoked beans, coleslaw, nachos, chips, and more. We are excited to welcome them to Vansant for this month’s Third Thursday celebration!
Events like our Summer Concert Series are about more than great music, they are about creating opportunities for our community to come together, support local musicians and small businesses, and enjoy quality entertainment right here at home. Our hope is to continue this tradition for years to come, and your support makes that possible.
