Southern Gap High School has unveiled the inaugural schedule for its volleyball program, marking another milestone as the Eagles prepare to begin competition during the school’s first year.
The Eagles will open the 2026 season on Aug. 25 with a road match against Wise Central before making their home debut Aug. 31 against Honaker.
Southern Gap’s varsity squad will also compete in the Rebel Classic at Patrick Henry on Sept. 5, while the middle school, junior varsity and varsity teams will play a full slate of Southwest Virginia opponents throughout the fall.
The inaugural schedule includes home-and-home matchups with Wise Central, Honaker, Graham, Lebanon, Marion, Richlands, Tazewell and Virginia High. The Eagles will also face Shelby Valley twice, with junior varsity and varsity teams competing in those contests.
Earlier this summer, Southern Gap announced volleyball tryouts will be held Aug. 3-5 at the Riverview Elementary/Middle School gym. Athletes must have a current Virginia High School League physical and complete all required paperwork before participating.
