The Big Sandy Soil and Water Conservation District is inviting farmers, landowners and community members to attend a public meeting later this month to learn about conservation programs and opportunities available throughout the region.
The event, titled “New Beginnings,” will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 29, at the Trey Adkins Gym in Hurley.
According to Big Sandy, the meeting is designed to provide updated information on programs and services available to farmers and homeowners. Officials said 2026 marks a year of new beginnings for the organization, and they are looking forward to sharing information about conservation initiatives and resources with the public.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity for residents to meet district staff, learn about available assistance programs and ask questions about conservation practices that can benefit their properties.
A free meal will be provided to those attending.
District officials are asking anyone planning to attend to RSVP by Thursday, June 25, by calling 276-935-7750.
The Big Sandy Soil and Water Conservation District serves Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell and Tazewell counties and works with landowners, farmers and local communities to promote conservation of natural resources through education, technical assistance and environmental stewardship programs.
The event is open to the public.
