
Heather Matney, James Rogers and Chris Sage marked a milestone in their recovery journeys Tuesday, Sept. 29, when they graduated from Buchanan County Recovery Court.
The ceremony brought an emotional day for those who gathered to recognize the graduates, according to an announcement from the program. Recovery Court expressed pride in all three and pledged continued support as they move forward.
Several speakers helped make the occasion personal. Dale Hibbitts spoke on Sage’s behalf, D Jay Horn spoke on Rogers’ behalf and Jimmy Penley spoke on Matney’s behalf.
Recovery Court participant Marlena Robinson also addressed the gathering on behalf of the program’s participants.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Nikki Stiltner delivered remarks that organizers described as heartfelt.
The program thanked Pastor Shea Shrader of Harman Memorial Baptist Church, Shannon Fuller and the crew at ACCAP for helping make the graduation possible. Double Kwik catered the food.
In its announcement, Recovery Court shared a message of encouragement for the graduates: “James, Heather, and Chris, we are all here for you and are so proud of you.”
