The Miss Black Diamond Pageant has been postponed until Dec. 5, giving prospective contestants more time to enter the Buchanan County Chamber of Commerce fundraiser.
Originally scheduled for Oct. 10 at Twin Valley Elementary/Middle School, the pageant was postponed because it did not receive enough entries. It will now take place at the new Southern Gap High School.
A $500 college scholarship will be awarded to the winner of the Miss Black Diamond division, which is open to contestants ages 18-22.
The pageant offers 13 age divisions, with opportunities for contestants ranging from infants to women 40 and older. It is being directed by Mary Rachel McGeorge-Young.
Divisions include Wee Miss, birth through 11 months; Baby Miss, 12-23 months; Mini Miss, 24-35 months; Toddler Miss, ages 3-4; Tiny Miss, ages 5-6; Little Miss, ages 7-8; Petite Miss, ages 9-10; Pre-Teen Miss, ages 11-12; Jr. Teen Miss, ages 13-14; Teen Miss, ages 15-17; Miss, ages 18-22; Ms., ages 23-39; and Elegant Ms., ages 40 and older. Each division’s title includes Black Diamond.
The chamber is encouraging contestants to submit applications and asking families and community members to help spread the word about the new date and location.
