Fifty-four students from Buchanan County earned academic recognition at Southwest Virginia Community College following the summer 2026 semester.
The local students were among those named to the college’s Dean’s List and Honors List, marking a semester of hard work and achievement both inside and outside the classroom.
Nineteen Buchanan County students earned a place on the Dean’s List. To qualify, students must be enrolled full-time, complete at least 12 credit hours, and earn a grade-point average of 3.20 or higher.
Buchanan County students named to the Dean’s List were Rylea Baker, Brittany Daugherty, Dianalid Ford, Eian Ford, Madison Hagy, McKenzie Hagy, Hunter Horn, Aiden Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Alexandria Love, Sabrina McCowan, Jaelyn Owens, Austin Potter, Pattie Proffitt, Samuel Pruitt, Candace Runyon, Connor Snead, Brandon Stiltner and Zachary Stiltner.
Another 35 Buchanan County students were named to the Honors List. The recognition is reserved for part-time students who complete at least six credit hours and earn a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher.
