
Southern Gap survived a tight opening set, then took control to sweep Graham in a Southwest District volleyball matchup Thursday, Oct. 1, at Southern Gap High School.
The Eagles pulled out a hard-fought 29-27 victory in the first set before winning the next two, 25-17 and 25-11, to finish off a big home win.
Senior Leah Rasnake led Southern Gap’s attack with 12 kills and added 10 digs and two aces. Junior Adyson Bell contributed 12 assists, six digs, four kills and an ace while leading the Eagles with 12 service points.
Senior Claire Griffey anchored the defense with 24 digs, adding two aces and an assist. Bela Hurley finished with eight assists, four aces and seven service points.
Lucy Savage and Addy Boyd each recorded five kills. Savage also had an ace and two service points.

Senior Madison Lester contributed eight service points, two kills, an ace and a block, while Megan Hess added two kills.
After the closely contested opener, Southern Gap widened its winning margin in each set, closing the match with its strongest showing of the night.
