Plans to bring a new restaurant to the former Huddle House building in Grundy continue to move forward.
Town of Grundy IDA Properties Manager Dennis Ramey updated authority members on the project during their Aug. 25 meeting at the Grundy Town Offices.
Ramey said a lease had been prepared for prospective restaurant operators Gary and Michelle Stacy, who currently operate the Breaks Diner, although the agreement had not been signed as of the meeting.
The Stacys have been given permission to begin cleaning and preparing the building. Ramey had already purchased cleaning supplies, and the prospective operators requested keys so they could begin work inside the property.
Plans call for the restaurant to serve traditional country-style food, including breakfast throughout the day.
Ramey also reported continued interest from prospective tenants at the Grundy Town Center. He said he was working with at least two prospects, but he did not discuss details publicly because of potential legal and contractual considerations.
