Tuesday morning, we got up early to go to Abingdon for Ray’s eye doctor appointment. We went to lunch at Cracker Barrel for Ray’s birthday. He wanted their gravy and biscuits, which he ate and loved. Within ten minutes of us finishing our meal, Ray was gone. There was a nurse right there, and she immediately started CPR; another person was doing mouth-to-mouth, and they kept it up until the paramedics arrived. They took over and worked on him all the way to the hospital. When I arrived minutes later, the doctor talked to me. I told him Ray’s wishes. They continued for probably ten more minutes, and he was gone.
I’m still numb and in shock; it all happened so fast.
Pray for us; we’ve got some hard days ahead, and then I have to learn to live without my Ray.
There’s more I want to say and need to say, but it’ll have to be later.
Brother Eddie finished the service with this verse…
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV
