A Brush Arbor Revival near William P. Harris Park brought the Council community together for three weeks of nightly prayer, preaching and fellowship.
The revival began on Aug. 10 near the park’s east entrance along State Route 80, also known as Helen Henderson Highway. By Aug. 27, ministers reported 13 conversions, several rededications and countless people gathering at the altar to pray.
Ministers Wendell Harris, Dennis McGlothlin and Adam Farmer began planning the revival about a year ago after feeling called to hold the outdoor services in Council.
“Myself, Dennis McGlothlin, and Adam Farmer started getting the burden for this revival about a year ago,” Harris said. “The Lord laid the field on my heart and the hole of water near the Council Community Center. It was like I could feel and imagine the worship services, the structure of the arbor, and the baptism services that could follow.”
The three ministers hoped the revival would unite the community and offer spiritual encouragement to those who attended.
“Our hopes were that our communities would be blessed and uplifted,” Harris said. “We knew that if everyone would bind together in one mind, that God could bless and revive us all.”
People continued returning to the brush arbor night after night to worship, hear the preaching and pray together. The revival also included baptism services at William P. Harris Park.
“We have witnessed countless individuals on the altar praying, thirteen conversions, and several rededications,” Harris said.
A third baptism service was scheduled for Aug. 30 at the park, followed by the revival’s 21st consecutive night of worship.
