The Black Diamond Company of 1073 Riverview Street, Grundy, VA 24614 is applying to the Virginia Mined Land Repurposing Program for renewal of Permit No. 1601787, to continue the operations at the following location:
The operation is in Buchanan County on Caney Fork and Buckeye Branch, approximately 2.4 miles southwest of Big Rock off Route 610 and 460. The permit is situated on the Harman USGS 7.5 Minute Topographic Quadrangle Map. The acreage for this operation is 344.29 acres. Drainage will pass through sediment control structures and will be discharged into Caney Fork and Dry Hollow near the VA/KY state line. The existing discharge locations may be viewed on the Renewal Map which is attached in Section 21.2 of the application. Additional discharge details are available in the NPDES Application attached in Section 5.15 of the application.
Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by this proposal, or an officer or head of any federal, state or local government agency or authority, may within 30 days of September 10, 2026, submit written comments or objections concerning this application and may also request, in writing, that the Mined Land Repurposing Program hold an Informal Conference concerning this application.
