With Southern Gap High School preparing to tee off its first athletic season, students interested in representing the Eagles on the golf course will soon have their chance to earn a spot on the team’s inaugural roster.
Golf tryouts are scheduled for the week of July 27 through Aug. 1 and are open to students in grades 8-12 for the 2026-27 school year.
The tryouts mark another milestone as Southern Gap continues building its athletic programs ahead of the school’s opening this fall. Student-athletes selected for the team will have the opportunity to become the first golfers to compete under the Eagles banner.
School officials remind prospective players that all required athletic paperwork must be completed before participating in tryouts. Students who still need to complete eligibility requirements are encouraged to do so as soon as possible to ensure they are cleared to compete.
Those interested in preparing before tryouts can also schedule a range session by contacting head golf coach Preston Hibbitts. The optional sessions will allow prospective players to sharpen their skills before official tryouts begin.
