Buchanan County 4-H member Zoey McGlothlin, a freshman at Council High School, earned first-place honors and received a blue ribbon during the Virginia State 4-H Senior Level Competitions held June 17 as part of Virginia 4-H Congress at Virginia Tech.
McGlothlin claimed the top award after advancing from the Buchanan County 4-H Talent Competition, where she was named the overall winner earlier this year. A talented guitarist and vocalist, she represented Buchanan County at the state competition, showcasing her musical abilities against some of Virginia’s top 4-H participants.
Virginia 4-H Congress brings together outstanding 4-H members from across the commonwealth for leadership activities, educational programs and statewide competitions. The annual event recognizes excellence in a variety of project areas while providing youth with opportunities to develop leadership skills and build relationships with fellow 4-H members.
