HOPE MATILDA “KIM” ESTEP, 58, of Iron Station, NC, passed away Wednesday, June, 3, 2026, at her home following a brief illness. Born in Welch, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ervin Layne Sr. and Shirley Pauline (Church) Layne. She was a longtime resident of Iron Station NC and was of the Pentecostal Faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed coloring, watching her groundhog in the yard, camping, being with family and her grandchildren, watching her shows and was dedicated to her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1-sister: Melody Matney; 2-brother: Jerry Shafer, Ervin Layne Jr.; 1-nephew: Eddie Ray Matney Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Darrell Lee Estep, Iron Station, NC; 1-daughter: Emily Rochelle Estep, Iron Station, NC; 2-sons; Jacob Bradley (Chelsea) Estep, Iron Station, NC, Breydon Waters, Iron Station, NC; 2-grandbabies: Isabella Rose Estep, Noah James Estep; 3-sisters: Jennifer Snellenburger, Hurley, VA; Rhonda (Charlie) Goad, Blackstone, VA, Charlotte Prater, Lincolnton, NC; 1-brother: Gary Shafer, Hurley, VA.
Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the WEO Church, Hurley, Saturday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for HOPE MATILDA “KIM” ESTEP were conducted Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at the WEO Church, Hurley, VA with Matthew Davis officiating. Burial followed in the Layne Bottom Cemetery, Hurley, VA.
Active Pallbearers were family and friends.
