JEREMY NEIL CHAFINS, age 49 was born on June 28, 1976. He passed on June 6, 2026.
He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents John and Emogene Chafins; maternal grandparents Hubert and Frances Leonard; uncles Gary Chafins, Delbert Chafins and Robin Leonard; and one aunt Elizabeth Leonard.
He is survived by his parents Thurl and Lea Ann Chafins; sister Leslie (Tim) Martin; twin sister Jaime Tidd (Joe Thompson); biological daughter Rebecca Chafins; two nephews Brady Martin and Ian Martin; and one niece Francesca Tidd.
Jeremy shared a close personal relationship with his dad, his best friend. He valued their productive working relationship as well. For twenty-two years he thoroughly enjoyed his position as a coal truck driver in his father’s trucking company.
His mom had a special presence in his life. She served as homemaker, teacher, nurse and friend. His dear sisters have many fond memories of their childhood together. Pool days, long bike rides and summer vacations are especially memorable.
His favorite past time was long rides on his side by side. Occasionally the family dog would accompany him along the trails.
Jeremy’s genuine personality and optimistic outlook were felt by all those around him. He met everyone with a smile on his face and a kind word on his lips.
Funeral services for Jeremy Neil Chafins wiere held Wednesday, June 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, Grundy, VA, with Evangelist Jim Belcher officiating. Entombment followed at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 10, after 6:00 p.m. with an evening service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers were Danny Whitt, Michael Lester, Cody Blankenship, Richard Wolford, Randy Meade and Brian Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers wier Gary Owens and Dennis Ruble.
